In Conversation: Tony Rolando and Alessandro Cortini Discuss Bruxa's Development | Make Noise
Просмотров 4,9 тыс.День назад
We were fortunate to be joined by our friend Alessandro Cortini here in Asheville recently. He and Tony Rolando met up at Drop of Sun Studios to discuss the development process of their latest collaboration: Bruxa. Bruxa is a new evolution of Tony and Alessandro’s original prototype circuits which eventually became the Strega’s Time/Filter Experiment. In this freewheeling conversation, Tony and...

The Bruxa music synthesizer module is an audio alchemical experiment. Spill your sound into time, and let it decay through the filters to hear the results. Bruxa is a collaboration between Make Noise and Alessandro Cortini. Inspired by Cortini’s music and sonic experimentations, Bruxa embodies the seen and unseen, the sign and magic, the alchemy of sound. It is a new evolution of Tony and Aless...

PrssPnt theme music by Sam! The PrssPnt music synthesizer module is a controller in which several signals are generated by touching the printed copper wire at the bottom of the instrument. Touching PrssPnt, you become part of the circuit, generating a total of four simultaneous signals (two CV, two Gate). The basic function of PrssPnt will be familiar to anyone who has used Pressure Points or 0...

Up & Down | Make Noise

Let's start getting a little more systematic with escape patch ideas. Let’s start with an assumption, let’s say a hypothesis actually, that this is a subterranean place, a “netherworld.” Let’s make a new escape patch. Let’s base it on the idea of “going up and down.” www.makenoisemusic.com

Just tried this. Made my day.Love it!! Thank you
Sick!
Some fantastic sounds 👌 also would love to see more microsound content
this is the kind of thing that i was missing lately. the genuine exploration built into these modules excites me and urges me to find new sounds of my own accord.
Blurgle glorp heaven. I love these sounds. They remind me of the ginger ale challenge, the kinds of sounds I was going for with my submission, just way cooler:) It’s amazing how many different complete Make Noise systems can fit into that skiff!
Yes please to revisiting the microsounds in synthesis workshop!
Morph plus SP is my favourite MakeNoise pair, I think. Bruxa has texture for days! Love the microsound videos, thanks!
hello there, to answer your question, yes please revisit the microsound workshop :)
I have a Strega but I think I still need a Bruxa for my DPO and for my two STOs.
great stuff here
Thanks Joey!
what just happened?... my brain is kinda melting🧠🌋💞
this is wonderfully wild. would love more microsound synthesis exploration.
🤘🎶
Walker - yes, please - more!! Also, THANK YOU - I feel like I'm waiting for a new episode of my favorite show to drop when I check the MN channel... The best part is saving then building these patches and adding to them to see where things go. Much love for you and MN for always adding to the community. Have a safe and restful July 4.
🎶🎶🎶
Enfin une vidéo pleine de bleeps et de bloops ! Quel artiste Walker !
Pure Madness I loved it Yes to Revisiting Microsound Workshops Oh Yeah
🎶⚡️
I always love all your explorations equally, but I love this one more :). Such a wealth of sounds and fun to watch, patch and listen to.
Glad you liked it! 🎶⚡️
The sonar operator’s lament
Thought one: neat new video set Thought two: wet slurppy wurupy slurpspeppspsp sounds
Thanks for watching Jeremy!
that outro part was wild! yes please to another iteration of the microsound workshop.
Sounds like you've tapped into the frequencies, modulations and pulsations of the insect world... greatly amplified. Take the sounds outside, in a forest, at night and see what happens.
Bonkers!
🎶
Not sure I could concentrate on a detailed analysis of this in a follow-up video, but definitely would like to hear more.
I find noises like this are good for writing lullabies. I put my 1 year old daughter to sleep by holding her while I jam on my synth setup making these kinds of sounds. What kind of music do you think these sounds work well in?
That’s awesome! I think this type of sound is most closely associated with experimental or “early” electronic music but could be incorporated into other types of music as a supplemental voice.
One of these days I have to finally learn how to use the Morphagene.
This sounds wild! I dig the offset + morphagene CV out for controlling the dxg channel, that's an awesome tip.
Glad to hear it was useful for you!
💥💥💥
Cool!
Yes, Strega and Bruxa are not "Cortini in a box"! Each is part of an instrument we make ourselves with wires and imagination.
Coincidentally, I was using Maths as a VCO last night and found this today. Tempi stepped CV was/is going into the Maths “ both”. But my amateur self didn’t get much further than patching it into QPAS and using the DPO sine as the four-on-the-floor kick. (Started the night trying to better understand Maths using a Mordax Data.) I can’t wait to be able to understand my Shared System more than I do and patch with more intent. It’s been a few years, but there’s always something to learn… or a new module to install.
To me, the Bruxa sounds like the love child of a delay and a Mysteron, while a Spectraphon sings McCartney’s parts from “The Girl Is Mine”. I’m looking forward to mine arriving in… Oct/Nov?! Damn the wait, but that makes it a great birthday present for me to me, so… a feedback present?
Wait..... you PRE-PREPARE THE PATCHES?!?!
I’m very happy this module is being made.
Robert Fripp vibes
Very enjoyable, thanks for sharing the conversation.
Thanks for tuning in Ben!
The Moire Effect!! Always enjoyed the visual effect - never thought about it in terms of audio.thanks for the mind expansion
Vogelsinger is simply brilliant.
Grow it out!
💙
I think the Curtis chips that were mentioned are part of the Solar 42. I did a little research for a presentation on it. There’s a lot of Russo/soviet history in that box. Fascinating drone synth. 😎
I have the machine since a few days and I'm thrilled. I recorded my voice using the method.: ruclips.net/video/99q-3c2kmeA/видео.htmlsi=_LLPFXF2auEvUBZJ
Thanks for sharing!
Inspiring
why is Time backwards? would make a lot more sense labelled "Speed" imo.
I think of it as turning Time down and up rather than speeding it up and slowing it down. Incidentally, “Why Is Time Backwards?” might make a good book title 📖
Portugal is full of magical places and perhaps that abstract map printed on Bruxa's circuit board will take you to Sintra
Loving the background music as much as the talk!
Strega is the greatest instrument I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Hands down. It tickles my brain in a way no other has. When I'm not playing, I'm thinking about playing. Glad Eurorackers get a taste of its time section.
The name also makes me think of "Bruxer" which is the term used for grinding or clenching your teeth 😬🎶 can't wait to get mine
Well this helped my wallet. Seriously though the strength of Strega and living/loving the instrument and loving the music of Alessandro and design of Tony's formats and conducting of circuits is brutalism as it's best. Till the end.
Great „Instrument!“ for Soundscapes, I have one in black! 🖤
Cool!
